Ginoo for “Bagyo ng Musika” at The Manila Hotel: A fund-raising dinner-concert

Take three top lawyers, band them together under the name GINOO (meaning ‘gentleman’), bring out their immense genuine love for music, and the result is a gentlemanly way of meting out help to others, afflicted by war and natural calamities.

Poverty and the consequent hunger and malnutrition of three (3) out of ten (10) Filipino children, is drawing a very bleak picture of the next generation of Filipinos. According to health experts, chronic undernutrition leads to stunted growth, which is irreversible and is associated with impaired cognitive ability and reduced school performance, as well as, poor work capacity and productivity.

It is for this reason, that GINOO members, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador S Panelo, Corporate Lawyer and former Press Secretary Mike Toledo, and former Senator Joey Lina, have come together for a special fund-raising dinner-concert aptly billed ‘Bagyo Ng Musika,’ on Independence Day, June 12, Tuesday, 7 p.m., at the Fiesta Pavilion of The Manila Hotel.

Prepare yourself not just for a fine dinner but for a wonderful array of music styles and selections. Attorney Lina is preparing his favoured repertoire of Broadway showstoppers and dramatic standards, while Attorney Toledo is touching up his line-up with samples of his favourite genre, which is jazz. Attorney Panelo, meanwhile, a mean piano-player himself, will regale everyone with one of his own compositions — a love song guaranteed to have many swooning.

Proceeds of the dinner-concert, to be directed by Hall of Famer stage director, Direk Freddie Santos, will benefit the undernourished Grade 1 and 2 pupils of Marawi City, in cooperation with Gawad Kalinga’s ‘Kusina sa Kalinga’ anti-hunger program. The fund-raising show also aims to assist in the Philippine government’s anti-hunger program in other parts of the country.

The Rhythm Ensemble of the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Maestro Rodel Colmenar, provides the musical accompaniment. West End stage performer, Ms Jenine Desiderio, performs as the show’s special guest, who, apart from her own selections, will be performing with the three attorneys in a specially arranged medley of duets. Show project management is by Salute Promotions, headed by Ms Beth Tagle.
